Choose a starting brief

240 vs 300 vs 320 GSM: choose your heavyweight T-shirt

Choose weight and measurements together. GSM measures fabric mass per area; it does not define softness, shrinkage or the finished fit. Use these three starting briefs to compare your options.

240 GSM oversized tee

A lower-weight option within this heavyweight range. Define shoulder drop, sleeve opening and chest width for a relaxed silhouette.

Review together Compare collar recovery, opacity and drape on the chosen cotton knit.

Quote a 240 GSM tee

300 GSM boxy tee

Use the pictured 300 GSM styles as your starting point. Define a shorter body and wider chest by measurement, rather than relying on the word boxy.

Review together Approve the collar, hem and front/back graphic scale on the sample.

Quote a 300 GSM tee

320 GSM custom tee

Explore the upper end of the range for a substantial fabric direction. Check the available knit before fixing the garment dimensions.

Review together Review post-care measurements and fabric handle before committing to bulk.

Discuss a 320 GSM tee

Your chosen brief is added to the inquiry form. Edit it before sending; exact materials, MOQ and costs are reviewed for your project.

Make the right development choices

Choose the collar, fit and print for your heavyweight tee

A useful T-shirt brief describes the details a fabric-weight number cannot. Compare these choices before commissioning your first sample.

Heavyweight T-shirts — buyer decision guide
Standard crew neck or wider rib?Specify the visible rib width and neck opening separately. For a substantial collar, review rib recovery, seam bulk and how the opening sits after the agreed wash test.
Oversized or boxy fit?Oversized does not necessarily mean cropped. Compare chest width with body length on a reference tee, then set shoulder drop and sleeve opening. Approve the base size before grading other sizes.
Flat print or raised decoration? For screen print, define colors, coverage and the desired hand feel. For puff print or embroidery, review artwork detail, raised height or backing on the selected jersey before approving the combination.

Build the specification

Heavyweight T-shirt fabric, fit & production specifications

These are proposed sourcing and development directions. The approved sample and written quotation define the accepted material, construction, tolerances and schedule.

Development specification — Heavyweight T-Shirts
Fabric compositionCombed ringspun cotton jersey; organic-cotton sourcing can be requested with material documentation and certification scope confirmed before an organic claim is used.
GSM weight range240–320 GSM cotton development range. Approximate fabric weights: 240 GSM = 7.1 oz/yd²; 300 GSM = 8.8 oz/yd²; 320 GSM = 9.4 oz/yd². These measure fabric mass per area, not the weight of one finished T-shirt. Confirm the selected knit, hand feel and material availability.
Fit optionsBoxy, oversized and drop-shoulder; chest width, shoulder drop, sleeve opening and body length set in the measurement chart.
Boxy / oversized measurement briefSend flat half-chest width, body length, shoulder width, sleeve length and collar opening for a base size. Mark inches or centimeters and identify the measurement points on a photo. A boxy label alone does not define the pattern; approve the size grading and finished fit.
Decoration craftsScreen print, puff print, embroidery, garment-wash direction, custom woven or printed neck labels.
Shrinkage tolerancePre-shrunk target below 3% under the agreed care and test method; verify on the selected material and finished sample, not as a universal stock guarantee.
MOQ per style / colorTarget 30–50 pieces per style/color for compatible routes. Fabric, dyeing, artwork and size allocation determine the confirmed minimum.
Sample lead time7–10-day target after specifications, material availability and artwork are confirmed.
Bulk lead time15–22-day target after sample approval and production inputs are confirmed; final schedule stated in the quotation.
ShippingFor US-bound T-shirt orders, share the delivery ZIP code, target in-hand date and quantity by size. Review DHL/FedEx courier or eligible DDP sea/air with production time, freight, transit time and duties clearly separated in the quotation.

MOQ & cost planning

Plan a 50-piece custom T-shirt order

A focused brief could be one tee design, one color and 50 pieces: S 10 / M 20 / L 15 / XL 5. This is a planning example, not a universal size ratio. A second fabric color or artwork version needs its own minimum and setup review.

Fabric & fit

Selected knit, GSM, yarn, collar construction and size grading.

Artwork & finishing

Print colors and positions, embroidery coverage, wash trials and labels.

Production & delivery

Quantity per color, sample development, packing and freight to your postcode.

Request an itemized quotation with the garment cost, development/setup, decoration, packing and freight shown separately where applicable. Sample-fee credit terms are confirmed in writing.

Choose your next step

Review materials or develop your own sample

A swatch pack helps you compare materials and workmanship. A custom development sample checks your own garment specification; the two serve different decisions.

Compare materials first

Review the available swatches and sample-pack contents, then confirm cost and courier delivery. A pack does not approve your custom fit, artwork or finished wash.

Develop your tee sample

Check your collar, base-size measurements and artwork on the selected jersey. Include a reference tee or front/back photos with the details you want to change.

Buyer questions about Heavyweight T-Shirts

Can I order 30 or 50 heavyweight T-shirts in one color?

That is the target starting range for compatible materials and decoration routes. Send the style, color, size split and artwork so the team can confirm fabric availability and the minimum for your exact brief.

Does the organic-cotton option include certification?

Organic-cotton material sourcing must be reviewed with the required documentation and claim scope. Do not assume a finished garment certification or chain-of-custody claim from a fabric name; confirm the required evidence before approval.

Is shrinkage always below 3%?

Below 3% is a proposed pre-shrunk acceptance target, not a universal test result. Agree the wash and drying method, measurement points and tolerance, then check the chosen fabric and finished sample.

Can I start without a tech pack?

Yes. Send front, back and detail photos, a physical reference or a sketch. Free basic tech-pack guidance helps organize the first brief; pattern development, grading and the final technical scope are confirmed before sampling.

Can you make heavyweight T-shirts with my own fit and label?

Yes. Share a reference garment or front/back photos, key measurements and your artwork. The brief can include boxy or oversized proportions, collar details and custom neck labels. Fabric availability, minimum quantity and development costs are confirmed before sampling.

How do I compare prices for 50 and 300 custom T-shirts?

Request both quantities against the same fabric, fit, color, size split and artwork. Separate one-time development and print setup from unit production, packing and freight. Changing the specification between quotes makes the unit prices difficult to compare.
